World Series of Poker Circuit: Atlantic City

As a lot of you know, the World Series of Poker is a series of poker tournaments held each summer in Las Vegas. There are 50 or 60 so events, capped off by the $10,000 buy-in Main Event, aka the World Championship.  Along with the World Series of Poker Europe, this is the only place in the world to win a coveted WSOP bracelet.

(EDIT 12/27/12: I totally forgot that the WSOP recently expanded and now offers 5 bracelet events in Asia!)

A lot of people outside of the poker community aren’t aware that the WSOP is also a brand that travels the country throughout the rest of the year, holding “Circuit” events in casinos around the USA. These events typically have 10-20 tourneys, each awarding a ring to the winner (not a bracelet).

I’ve enjoyed playing in these circuit events, with buy-ins ranging from the $210 “Nightly Second Chance” to the $1,600 main event. Most events are in the $350-$550 range. For a few weeks  there are official ring events each day and Nightly Second Chance tourneys each night.

I sit writing this now from Harrah’s Atlantic City too tired to play the Nightly after grinding through a full day in Event 2a. I was fortunate to bag about 20 big blinds and hope to turn them into a deep run when I return to play the final day on Sunday. To grab my rail, check me out on Twitter @donniccolo.

If you enjoy tournament poker I highly recommend checking out the WSOP Circuit.
