Collecting Is Just Well Planned Hoarding

The Minimalists have said a lot of things that have stuck with me over the years. One was about how “organizing is well-planned hoarding.” How simple yet profound.

Thankfully, after my house caught fire, I gained perspective about many things. As I was tasked with manually removing 250 bottles of whiskey from my home, I decided that I would not be moving the vast majority of those bottles back in with me. I realized that for most things, collecting is just well-planned hoarding.

Not only is alcohol poison but I realized I do not want to have the nicest collection of anything when I am in the cemetery. I may have easily died in that fire and I have since realized that life is too short to not always eat & drink the best I can afford. By being budget conscious, we can afford better ingredients. When we eat out or decide to have a drink, we can enjoy top quality items. And nothing beats great food & drink!
